I think pretty often I'm a mood reader. I need a good cry or feel alive, I'll choose the book that will leave with me for the longest time (or that I hope will) and that will come with a hangover and tears in my eyes. Or sometimes, scars in my heart.
But other days, when I'm tired, or sick, or don't wanna have to think too much (or cry too much let's be honest), I'll pick a rom-com. Something that's mostly predictable, but will be a great entertainment for the 300+ pages it'll last.
Romcom romance books always remind me of Hallmark Christmas movies. They make you feel good. And give you those butterflies without the characters going into too much drama, the plot consistent, and just a bit cliché to be delectable.
I think we all need both types of romance books in our lives.
Sure, good drama romance is a favorite of mine. But be aware, it takes me days to get over it if it's that good. Even when they live happily ever after, it still gets to me really bad. And I favor those I'm so invested in that I become the characters. I feel for them. I cry for them. I hope for them.
If you could read just one of the two for the rest of your live, would you choose a good laugh, or to feel your heart is much alive...
I can't even answer my own question... I believe laughing is great, it's something we never do enough. But I love to feel. A lot.
Nah, I'll have to think about it for a little longer.
Have a great day!
