Do You Prefer Books With a Lot, a Little or No Spice?
January 29, 2025
How much do you like your spice in romance books?
Do you prefer books with a little, a lot, of no spice at all? Or do you prefer books with whatever amount of spice as long as the story is engaging?
I think I'm more of the latter category. Sure, I love the spice, but I don't want it to be at the expense of the storyline, the character development, and/or the plot.
We've all read one of these books where there is so much spice it gets overwhelming and you have to skip the many scenes to get to the heart of the story, right?
Since Valentine's Day is in just a few weeks, I've decided to do a little game with you!
I've written below theTOP 5 spicy scenes 🌶️from my books according to comments I've received from readers over the years. Let me know which one isTHE ONE. You know, the scene that gave you tingles when you read it.
If yours isn't on the list, please reply to this email and let me know which one is it and I'll do a Top 8 or Top 10 of readers' favorite spicy scenes from my books compilation! I feel like Savannah could have a few scenes of her own in that top 5...😂 I don't know why I didn't include her...🤔
Vote for you favorite below:
📚 Book: Forevermore
Book 2 in the Heart Song duet previously titled Pink and Country
👩❤️👨 Characters: Carter and April
🎬 Scene: The opening scene of Forevermore after April told Carter she was leaving since he was MIA and he realizes he's not ready to let her go because she might be the one. He finally lets all his guards down and their love explodes on the pages.
🎬 Scene: The igloo scene. Do I need to say more? In case you need a reminder, think about whiskey, ice cubes, a beach igloo with a massage table, chocolate, and a lot of heat!
Book 1 in the Breathless duet previously titled Wild and Country
👩❤️👨 Characters: Tucker and Addison
🎬 Scene: The first scene when they say "screw it" and decide not to listen to Dahlia and Nick's warning about not getting together, and they discover they like the same kinks and are maybe way more compatible than they both thought. You know, in that hotel room... Or the scene at the table, surrounded by their best friends and they get caught...
Book 2 in the Second Tear duet previously titled Whiskey and Country
👩❤️👨 Characters: Dahlia and NIck
🎬 Scene: When they are in Nick's kitchen and he tells her, "Dahlia, I don't think I wanna be your friend anymore." They've both been through so much in their lives already and they decide to trust the universe and just give their relationship a go. It's both spicy and emotional at the same time.
Book 1 in the Lonesome Heart duet previously titled Legend and Country
👩❤️👨 Characters: Sam and Maddie
🎬 Scene: It's the middle of the night and they both can't sleep and decide to grab water from the kitchen... They haven't touched each other yet and still, the pages catch fires as they banter and have a face-off that will change the dynamic of their relationship forever...

I fell in love with the Pierce family while I was writing the Wrecked series. Mason and Melinda kept popping in my mind, and every time Melinda confided in Ava about her own teen years, their story took form in my mind and I couldn't let it go.
Mason is the king of the football team at Elk River High, Michigan. Melinda is the star of the swim team, but they can't co-exist together even though they've known each other for years. What began as a childhood friendship, quickly turned into a frenemies kinda situation.
Now Seniors in Elk River High, they can't seem to escape the other's presence whatever they do, wherever they go. Sure, they share the same group of friends, and Melinda's best friend is dating Mason's brother, but denying the chemistry between them is not an easy feat. One night, as Mason comes to Melinda's rescue, they soon realize that maybe they don't hate each other as much as they thought...
Attraction will bring them together, but life-threatening secrets could push them apart...

Each series has its own color scheme and all series fit together when you put them next to another. I'll sign all books and they will be delivered in January. You have a choice between one book or many, one series or all four of them. Each duet within a series has covers that matched.
Where did the time go? I missed most of August and September due to my health scare and now we're days ahead of October and I'm not sure I'm quite ready.
My kids are in full fall aesthetic mode, and I'm still locked to my bed or my couch most of the time. They made a super cool fall Bucket's list using paint and glitter (Mr. Snow wasn't happy about our bedroom being turned into a glittery palace, but he was the one who bought the art supplies so he knew what was in store, no?) From fall-themed diner to fall movie and a bunch of activities, the little Snows thought about everything. I'm just sad, my health doesn't allow us to travel or go on a hike like they planned.
And now they are talking about Halloween costumes and I can't find in me the energy to help them plan their outfits. They said they'll do it themselves, but I'm usually a huge Halloween fan and prep costumes weeks in advance. They did a fun pumpkin-head photoshoot last week and it was the cutest thing ever.
Do you have special fall traditions you like to partake in?
