YA Football Read - Are you ready for Mason and Melinda's story yet?
It's been a long time coming. I've officially (and tentatively) pushed Kickoff's release to March 2025. Fingers crossed everything will run smoothly until there.
If their names sound familiar, you're right. Mason Pierce and Melinda Shepard are Ava's aunt and uncle from Cast Away, but the younger versions of them. You know, the first look, the first touch, the first kiss...
I fell in love with the Pierce family while I was writing the Wrecked series. Mason and Melinda kept popping in my mind, and every time Melinda confided in Ava about her own teen years, their story took form in my mind and I couldn't let it go.
Mason is the king of the football team at Elk River High, Michigan. Melinda is the star of the swim team, but they can't co-exist together even though they've known each other for years. What began as a childhood friendship, quickly turned into a frenemies kinda situation.
Now Seniors in Elk River High, they can't seem to escape the other's presence whatever they do, wherever they go. Sure, they share the same group of friends, and Melinda's best friend is dating Mason's brother, but denying the chemistry between them is not an easy feat. One night, as Mason comes to Melinda's rescue, they soon realize that maybe they don't hate each other as much as they thought...
Attraction will bring them together, but life-threatening secrets could push them apart...

Star quarterback for my high school team, I was at the top of my game. Everyone wanted a piece of me. Except the one person I wanted to give all of me to.
Straight A student and swimming champion, Melinda Shepard had no interest in me or my football glory or my dating rep sheet. A few years ago, we’d been friends, but that relationship went up in flames before we had time to really get to know each other. When her life is at risk one night and I’m the only one there to care for her, I’m back in the friendship zone. Finally.
Years later, our chemistry hasn’t faded, and that attraction between us is still burning. Even though my heart belongs to her and I’m pretty sure hers is mine too, Melinda is trying to keep me at arm’s length, hiding a life-threatening secret from me, one that could ruin her and put our blooming relationship in jeopardy too.
Now that truths are being exposed and feelings are being hurt, our friendship may be the only thing salvageable. Until an unexpected new challenge complicates our new reality. Never had I imagined that falling in love with the girl of my dreams would turn out to be the hardest play of my life, one that would change me forever.
As pain, lies, and unsaid words mix, do we stand a chance at love or is our relationship doomed from the start?

Do you prefer books with a little, a lot, of no spice at all? Or do you prefer books with whatever amount of spice as long as the story is engaging?
I think I'm more of the latter category. Sure, I love the spice, but I don't want it to be at the expense of the storyline, the character development, and/or the plot.
We've all read one of these books where there is so much spice it gets overwhelming and you have to skip the many scenes to get to the heart of the story, right?
Since Valentine's Day is in just a few weeks, I've decided to do a little game with you!
I've written below theTOP 5 spicy scenes 🌶️from my books according to comments I've received from readers over the years. Let me know which one isTHE ONE. You know, the scene that gave you tingles when you read it.

Each series has its own color scheme and all series fit together when you put them next to another. I'll sign all books and they will be delivered in January. You have a choice between one book or many, one series or all four of them. Each duet within a series has covers that matched.
Where did the time go? I missed most of August and September due to my health scare and now we're days ahead of October and I'm not sure I'm quite ready.
My kids are in full fall aesthetic mode, and I'm still locked to my bed or my couch most of the time. They made a super cool fall Bucket's list using paint and glitter (Mr. Snow wasn't happy about our bedroom being turned into a glittery palace, but he was the one who bought the art supplies so he knew what was in store, no?) From fall-themed diner to fall movie and a bunch of activities, the little Snows thought about everything. I'm just sad, my health doesn't allow us to travel or go on a hike like they planned.
And now they are talking about Halloween costumes and I can't find in me the energy to help them plan their outfits. They said they'll do it themselves, but I'm usually a huge Halloween fan and prep costumes weeks in advance. They did a fun pumpkin-head photoshoot last week and it was the cutest thing ever.
Do you have special fall traditions you like to partake in?
